FUNDING

Funding amounts are determined based on a budget submitted by the applicant, with a maximum of $500. The review committee will vote on whether to fully or partially fund each item in the budget, based on the appropriateness of the item relative to the demonstrated need and overall demand for funding. Partial funding generally covers 50% of the requested amount but may vary at the committee’s discretion.

PGSG recognizes the importance of workplace equity and equitable professional development activities for graduate students. We aim to offset additional costs incurred due to accessibility needs, promoting successful, safe, and satisfactory working conditions.

APPLICATION

See the printable instructions document for complete instructions and an FAQ.

Eligibility

All enrolled students supported by PGSG are eligible to apply for the Accessibility Grant. To qualify, a student must have a self-reported disability or access need that financially impacts their coursework, employment, or other professional activities related to their graduate career at Purdue University.

Applications must be completed fully and include a student’s Purdue email address.

If deemed incomplete by the Accessibility Grant Vice Chair, applications must be promptly completed and resubmitted.

Applications must be submitted and accepted before any payments can be made; PGSG cannot provide retroactive awards.

Decision

After review, applicants will receive one of two decisions:

  1. Awarded partially or fully – requested need is eligible, application meets minimum expected requirements (e.g. point cut-off for approval). No changes or additions to the application are needed.
  2. Denied – a) requested need is ineligible or does not fall under access need, or b) the Accessibility Grant does not have the funds to meet the applicant’s request.

Reimbursement

Applicants should review the reimbursement procedures and policies before making any purchases related to their grant application. Receipts for all approved purchases must be submitted to the PGSG treasurer for reimbursement.
